"Quickly Ren, the treasures" shouted Ioz as he steered towards the other craft.
"Do you think the treasures can handle that large a source of dark water?" inquired Tula.

"I hope so or else they're all doomed. But i won't let go without a fight" ha said dtermined. Ioz furrowed his brows "why are you so intent on helping someone you barely know? true no one deserves the fate of darkwater, save for Bloth, but ..."

"Because Ioz" Ren interrupted " it's obvious they are not Bloth, and just as you said no one deserves the fate of darkwater"
"I think we're close enough Ren" Niddler shouted from the crow's nest.
Ren nodded and strode to the side that would take him as close to the darkwater as possible. He placed the jewels in a tightly woven net and threw them into the darkwater.

The crew of the Jolly Roger watched with awe as the events of the new ship took place. Hook noticed the younger of the two men on board throw what looked to be treasure into the black mass that had all but eaten their ship.

Even more fascinating was the fact that this trick seemed to make the wicked stuff dissolve in a pinkish-purple fizz.

When the darkwater had been wholly dissolved, the Wraith's captain hauled up their precious cargo and signaled to the other ship to let them board.

"Are you sure this is a good idea Ren, saving them is one thing but boarding their ship it could be dangerous" Tula warned.
"Aye" Ioz agreed "I'd recognize such a flag anywhere, no matter what type of vessal it waved from. That's a pirate ship"
"Hmmmmm, yes and we can't trust pirates can we Ioz" Ren noted with more than a little sarcasm. Ioz just "hmphed" and the matter was dropped.
They all looked up when they heard a familiar monkey-bird chime in. "oooohhh, i wonder if they have any menga melons"
he rubbed his tummy "all that darkwater gave me an appetite".

"Ren, i want you to give me the treasures". After the invitation to dinner from Captain Hook, Ioz had been more wary then usual. He feared the pirates would sneak aboard and steal the fruits of their long journey.

Ren looked at his friend in surprise "What!, why?". "I want to hide them from the pirates and having been one myself, i know where the treacherous scoundrels are likely to look. But, more importantly, i know where they won't look" Ioz said with more than a hint of pride at his knowledge of pirates.

Tula placed a hand on her hip as she walked over to join the conversation "I agree with Ioz, Ren" "A rare occurence" joked the young captain "And i'm not saying i disagree. We need to guard the treasures at all costs. They are our worlds future, and only hope". The others nodded in agreement and as Ren was giving Ioz the jewels to hide, Niddler came in with a question "uh, Ren, i couldn't help overhearing, but, what about the comapass?". Ren looked down at the glass encased stone that had literally guided them to every destination on their journies, and clasped it in his hand. He looked over at Ioz who was now rubbing his beard thoughfully as he addressed the situation. "The monkey-bird is right Ren, I too noticed how the captain was giving it a good once-over earlier. No doubt he realizes how much something like that is worth; we should leave it with the treasures".
Tula shook her head "No Ioz, if the treasures are stolen, whether by the pirates or someone else, at least we'll have the compass so we could find them again"
"And if the compass is stolen we won't be able to find any more treasures. I say we leave it here. What do you think Ren?" they turned to their leader each hoping for agreemant on their part.
Ren placed his fist to his lips, as he always did when making an important decision. After what seemed like a few moments he sighed and said "As Ioz said the captain and his crew have already seen the compass. And surely the captain recognized how imporatant it is to me since he saw how i wore it around my neck. If I were to board their ship without the compass he would surely notice and take offense. We can not make any more enimies that we already have". "Aye" Ioz agreed "Bloth is enough trouble without angering the locals of this strange place".

"Ren i wanted to talk to you about that" Tula said with a minor note of alarm. "I've been geting these strange readings from the island. Powerful readings. Vibrant, almost youthful". "What do you think it could be?" spoke the blue-eyed prince. "I'm not sure, but whenever I hone in on it, I get this sensation of familiararity. It's almost as if I've been here before, a long time ago, when i was very young". She got a distant far off look in her eyes and a dreamy smile, and the two men knew that if they didn't break her out of it soon, she could stay like that all night.
"Come on guys, let's go get ready. They'll be expecting us soon". With that they all went in different directions. Ren and Tula to their respective rooms to get ready, Ioz to hide the treasures and Niddler to the galley for a pre-dinner snack. None of them could have known that their entire conversation had been overheard by one young gypsy lad, with a strange funnel pressed to his ear.

Back on the Jolly Roger:
"Well Mister Jukes, how goes it? Can you hear anything?" asked the captain. He had been impatiently waiting for Jukes to tell him what he had overheard with his latest invention, some type of contraption that allowed him to overhear conversations undetected.
"Oh yes Captain" the boy answered meekly as he retracted the other end of the listening device "I heard everything". "Well, speak up, I'd like to know more about those strange jewels that the boy captain threw into that dark-water". "Well, sir, from what i could understand, those jewels are somehow meant to save their world". "wherever it is they come from" Hook interrupted. "Yes" Jukes continued "and it would seem, that the jewel he wore around his neck that you noticed is the very thing that led them to the other treasures, it's some kind of compass". Hook made a sound low in his throat that was somewhere between a sigh and a growl as if he were debating something. When he didn't say anything Jukes continued "Right now the man with the strange hair do is hiding the treasures. They had a discussion about whether or not they should leave the compass on board with the treasures, or risk taking it aboard". Hook cocked an eyebrow at the young pirate "And what did they decide" "Well, their captain decided that since you had already seen him wear it, and probably had deciphered its' meaning to him" at this Hook nodded "he decided to wear it aboard, that way if the other jewels were stolen he could find them with the compass" he finished.
Hook thought for a moment, and then spoke "Hmmmm, it would seem that though the lad is young he is no fool and takes great care in protecting is valuables. You said something about the treasures saving their world. What did you mean?"
Jukes shuffled his feet and fingered his invention idly, "Well captain, i don't know much, they really didn't go into it, but from what i could gather from their conversation, those jewels are the only hope for saving their world from some kind of evil. And if I may venture a guess Captain?" Jukes asked. "Go on" Hook urged. "Well, since they knew how to dispense with that horrible water, I'm thinking that's probably what they're fighting. That and someone named 'Bloth'". "Who?" Hook asked, unfamiliar with the name. "Bloth, sir" Billy repeated carefully, not sure about the name himself "Appearently they're not the only ones looking for those treasures, but it would seem from the way they spoke his name, with disgust, that this Bloth is no friend".
"Hmmmmm, a very perceptive deduction, Mr. Jukes. We shall have to appraoch the subject with them after dinner. Anything else of note?" "Yes Captain. It would seem their healer, the woman, is able to detect the magic of Neverland. I think she might be a witch or psychic, b/c she talked about getting readings from the island." Hook made a sound of disgust "Gah, you and Mullins with your witchcraft and women, really boy". "It's true sir, and then she said something about having been here before". Hook was taken aback "What's that you say, you mean she's been here before?". "I don't know about that sir" Billy said, alarmed at the tone of Hook's voice "All I know is that her voice sounded kinda wispy, and distant, like she was remembreing something". Hook thought for a moment and then decided it didn't matter and said as much. "What is important is that they are here now, and will soon be arriving".

He started back to his cabin when Jukes called back to him "Um, Captain?" Hook turned to regard him "um, I was just wondering sir, did you intend on taking the treasures from them?"
Hook furrowed his brow slightly "Does the thought trouble you, Mr. Jukes?"
Jukes gulped, surprised at himself for even saying this "It's just that, they did save us Captain and, well, uh...it just doesn't seem right" with every word he had seemed to shrink down a few inches under Hook's gaze. The Captain regarded him for a silent moment then quirked his mouth in a half smile. He then turned back and returned to his cabin. Jukes let out a breath he hadn't even realized he'd been holding, and nearly collapsed to his knees from fear.
